On Guard is desktop security for Macintosh computers. On Guard adds protection to the Macintosh Finder to prevent users from moving, trashing, or renaming files, using control panels or the Chooser, or accessing files in certain folders. The demonstration software works on an unlimited number of computers for 30 days after installation. At the end of the 30-day period, On Guard will be automatically disabled.
LAN Commander is file distribution and centralized control software. Distribute software, launch and quit applications, shutdown or restart computers, and much more. All actions occur simultaneously on all computers you select. LAN Commander gives you complete audits of installed software and is great for installing software on networked computers. The demonstration software works on an unlimited number of computers for 15 days after installation. At the end of the 15-day period, LAN Commander will be automatically disabled.
Included on the disk are files which provide information about installing and using On Guard and LAN Commander. The guide for On Guard is in a file named 'On Guard Guide.sea'; the guide for LAN Commander is in a file named 'LAN Commander Guide.sea'. Each contains an abridged version of the printed manual that ships with the product.
The guides have been compressed to fit on a floppy disk. To read a guide, you must extract the guide to your computer's hard disk by following these steps :
1. Double-click on the guide file on the floppy disk. A window will appear which gives you an opportunity to choose where you want the documentation to reside. The following steps will place the guide onto your computer's desktop.
2. In the window that appears, click on the Desktop button then click on the Extract button to copy the guide onto your computer's desktop.
3. Double-click on the guide which is on your desktop to read or print the documentation.
Updates to On Guard and LAN Commander can be downloaded from our Web site at 'http://www.poweronsw.com/'. The updates are in BinHex format. Programs such as StuffIt Lite can be used to decode the BinHex format. Updates may include either bug fixes, new features, or performance improvements.
There are no known compatibility issues with On Guard or LAN Commander and other software. On Guard is compatible with System 6.0.7 and later and works on all Macintosh models. LAN Commander is compatible with System 7.0 and later and works on all Macintosh models. Both products are compatible with all Macintosh networks (LocalTalk, EtherTalk, and TokenTalk), as well as Macintosh computers connected to networks which support AppleTalk (such as Windows NT and Novell NetWare networks).
